Who we are

This site is operated by Josephine Phillips, trading as Blimey, It's History! ("we", "us", "our"). We act as the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

What we collect

  • Booking enquiries, name, organisation, email, phone (optional), group size, preferred date, topic, and any message you send us via the form on /book.
  • Email correspondence, anything you write to us at hello@darkhistoryuk.co.uk.
  • Essential cookies, a single local-storage entry to remember your cookie choice. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and arrange a booking (lawful basis: legitimate interests / steps prior to a contract).
  • To send a written quote and follow-up information you have asked for.
  • To keep simple records of bookings for accounting purposes (lawful basis: legal obligation).

We do not use your data for marketing without your explicit consent, and we do not sell or share it for advertising.

Who sees it

Enquiry data is sent by email to hello@darkhistoryuk.co.uk and is read only by Josephine Phillips and team members directly involved in booking your event. The website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider that processes standard server logs (IP address, request time, page requested) for security and reliability.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted within 12 months. Booking records are retained for 6 years to meet UK tax and accounting obligations, then deleted.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete it.
  • Object to or restrict our processing of it.
  • Request a portable copy.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis.
